Shade

To be honest, once you see a pergola, the first thing you might think of is that it will never provide ample enough of shade. That is true. With how it is made, the sun can easily go right through the beams — unless it was installed properly.

A properly installed pergola will be able to provide a complete shade in the right time. Do note that depending on the direction of the sun’s light, the beams or planks can create a solid shade. Of course, when it is noon and the sun’s in the middle of the sky, the shade it can only provide can be roughly around 25% up to 50% — depending the spacing and the thickness of the wood used.
